By midlife, Dr. Clara Young found herself suffering from depression, breast cancer, and menopause, among other things. When nothing seemed to work to save her life and give her hope, an unlikely lifeline made an appearance, and came to her rescue: Happiness.
“It turns out happiness is not just an emotion, but a powerful tool that can help us survive all kinds of small and big issues every day, achieve goals and dreams faster, and enjoy life’s journey while laughing, eating, and having fun. Amazingly, happiness is built in. We already have it. We just have to nudge it out.
I found out the hard way that we don’t have all the time in the world and everything can be gone in a split second, so I don’t wait for anything or take things for granted. We can all be happy with who we are and what we have now. We are enough. Imagine that.”
Happiness to the Rescue is candid, informative, funny, and heartwarming. Dr. Clara shares her personal stories and life lessons learned from half a century of living to overcome everything from medical and mental illnesses, discrimination, annoying people, hot flashes, body parts going south, and more. The book teaches us how to be happy and stay sane in an insane world.
Dr. Clara Young holds a M.A. and a Ph.D in clinical psychology with emphasis on Jungian, Health, and Positive psychology, and alternative and natural treatment for Depression. She is currently the director of the Health & Happiness Center, author of several books, and a depression, cancer, and life survivor.
